The Head of the Schuylkill
The Old Dominion Boat Club crew made a stronge showing
in the youth eight category. ODBC men's A boat finished an impressive
6th place out of 70 entries in a time of 13:12.66. The B boat wasn't far
behind, finishing in 10th place, at 13:21.12. Long Island's Chaminade
HS, which was the top high school boat at the Head of the Charles, cruised
into first place with a time of 12:58.57. Thompson's Boat Club was second.
The ODBC women also had a good day, crossing the line with the 8th fastest
time out of 58 entries. Norwalk River Rowing Assn was the winner with
a time of 14:18.61 and the ODBC ladies arrived at 15:22.19. TBC ladies
finished in silver like their counterparts. Northern Virginia RC crews
were farther back. The crews of the ODBC eights are posted on the ODBC
page. Congrats to the crews and coaches Solange Rousset and Ro Ralph.

The Head of the Occoquan
The ODBC crews finished the 2003 fall season on a strong
note by medaling at HOTO. The women silvered behind Thompson's Boat Center
with a time of 17:28. Eighteen female crews competed from Pittsburgh,
Baltimore and the Washington area. The guys "A" boat came home
in 15 minutes even and 7 seconds behind winner TBC "A." The
ODBC "B" guys weren't far behind, finishing fourth in 15:41
out of the twelve entries. If you compare the times of the ODBC "A"
boats with the men's and women's club eight events, in which many college
crews compete, you would see the ODBC boats besting the winning times
there. The ODBC guys would have been 4th in the championship eight event.
Too bad the season has to end!
Congratulations to the rowers and coaches of the 2003
