2008 Coaches

Nicole Garofalo will coach the ODBC women's crew this year.  She just finished her first season as coach of the 3rd Varsity men's eight for TCW, who ended the season with a silver medal finish at Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championship. Previously Nicole had been the head coach of the Syracuse Chargers Rowing Club in Syracuse, New York, leading her team to several grand final finishes at the Canadian Royal Henley Regatta as well as many other top ten finishes in national level regattas including Head of the Schuylkill and Head of the Charles.

Nicole is a Syracuse University grad, where she rowed for four years, making several NCAA Division 1 varsity eight Championship appearances and captain of her team as a senior.  She currently works for the company Symantec and in her spare time enjoys running, hiking and traveling among other adventures.

Scott Gordon, who coaches the men’s crew, has a long and varied career as an international elite level coxswain. In addition to his past pursuits, Scott currently coxes for Alexandria Community Rowing. Scott has been the Head Rowing Coach for Vanderbilt University, American University, Thompson Boat Center, and recently Episcopal H.S. in Alexandria.

Scott is the Founder and CEO of Mid-Atlantic Freelance, LLC and in his spare time enjoys high altitude alpine mountaineering and spending time with his wife and black lab.
